| Danish games | 14. september 2009 | Spilmuseet is responsible for an exhibition on Danish games history at Den Sorte Diamant in Copenhagen at Sunday the 20th of September. The exhibition is a part of the celebration of Diamantens 10 years birthday, during which there is open house and the Royal Library exhibits parts of the Danish culture heritage, which are focused on preserving.
Denmark started producing games in the early 80'es, and since then Danes have created or participated to a number of major games. From the early 90'es many remember Skærmtrolden Hugo, which for years was featured in major tv shows in Denmark and many other countries. Today the Danish games industry is a major player, and especially the Hitman-games are well known worldwide and sell in millions of copies.
Spilmuseet works on registering, finding and exhibiting all Danish computer, video and arcade games, to preserve this part of Danish culture history and make it available in the original, playable versions for the time to come. A part of this project can be seen in the exhibition at Den Sorte Diamant, where Spilmuseet in collaboration with the Royal Library exhibits playable versions of classic Danish games such as The Vikings, Tiger Mission, Sword Of Sodan, Battle Squadron and Hugo.
